The month of May 2020 is unusual because we have three planets that went into retrograde right around the same time. We often hear people lamenting on the dreaded Mercury in retrograde, which happens three times a year and for three weeks a week at a time, but not so much about the others. Psychics are keen to see this!

Mercury in retrograde is famous for creating havoc on our electronics and communications. You may be wondering what IS a planetary retrograde? A retrograde is when a planet appears to be spinning backward in its orbit. This is an optical illusion. But it's effects are NOT and in fact, are legendary! And each planet as it goes retrograde influences human behavior differently. All retrograde's have us collectively in a state of review. We tend to go inward during this time as we reflect and revisit the past. Hopefully, we also revise and renew.

Let's talk about the three planets that went retrograde recently and how each will potentially affect your life.

SATURN-in retrograde. Saturn went retrograde on May 11th and will remain in retrograde until September 29th. Daddy Saturn is stern, and he is the planet of restriction. He wants us to be careful and cautious. This planet shows us where our basic life structures need shoring up. During this time, you are likely to be reminded where the cracks are to be found in the necessary foundations of your body, your home, government, job, and life. Often during a Saturn retrograde, people complain of dental issues and bone issues. On the home front, they might discover a plumbing issue or an electrical malfunction, and so on. We are being shown the things in our lives that are getting weak and need repair.

VENUS- in Gemini went retrograde on May 12th and will remain there until June 26th. This is a big one and is probably the most talked-about ( and feared) next to a Mercury retrograde. Why? Well, Venus represents LOVE, and we all seem to care quite a lot about what happens in our love lives! The planet Venus strongly affects how we love others and how we want to be loved.

During a Venus retrograde, we are likely to find ourselves feeling fixated on our relationships. We may find that we are suddenly hearing from old lovers. Or, conversely, we may be the one reaching out to the people from our past. Generally, the advice is to NOT! Love affairs started or renewed during this time, have a habit of bouncing right back to where they were when Venus in Retrograde ends. Even established relationships tend to suffer during this time.

You don't want to make any significant love decisions at this time. I want you to think before making a permanent commitment. This IS however, a great time to reflect and review past love relationships and figure out WHY they did not work and HOW you might change things for the future. Because this particular Venus in retrograde is in the sign of Gemini, you might be even MORE inclined than ever to TALK and communicate.

Gemini is the sign of communication and words! The problem is, you may be tempted to SAY things you usually would not. DO watch for this! The other thing at play here is this. Gemini is the sign of duality or being of two minds. You might find your thinking, actions, and words are going back and forth more than they usually might. This retrograde asks you to get in touch with and own your dual nature. Embrace both your inner light and your dark. This is a perfect time to think about what masks you wear and which face you show to those you love. How can you be more authentic and blend both sides of yourself?

JUPITER- Jupiter in Capricorn went retrograde on May 14th and will remain there until September 29th. Jupiter is the planet of luck and expansion! During a retrograde in Jupiter, we must be careful not to go to extremes. We may feel as though we are somehow being held back from the things that we want to manifest! But forcing things is not advised right now. Instead, focus on moderation. This is not the time to GO BIG. This is the time to reflect on dreams and goals and also on what has worked in the past to help you reach them. Reaching for our dreams is always a GOOD thing, but making any BIG changes during a Jupiter Retrograde is not advised. Instead, look for ways to balance your life. Think about karma. Jupiter is the planet of karma. Right now is a great time to project your most positive self onto others in the world in the hope that KARMA will later bless you when it " bounces " good things back your way!

As it goes retrograde, we are doing INNER work, self-exploration, and often confronting painful truths about oneself and one's life. While this may be difficult in the moments, you will come to find that this process will purify and renew you!
