Tarot and the Tree of Life Spread

Did you know that many people believe there is a link between Tarot and the Kabbalah?

One of the most exciting observations from many psychics and mystics is how there are 22 cards in Tarot's Major Arcana and 22 life paths in the Kabbalah. Some see this similarity as a sign that the Tarot is connected as it was developed long ago around the beginning of Jewish mysticism. Though there is no clear evidence that this is true, and more conservative modern-day Judaism practices discourage Tarot as a ritual, there are still exciting connections between the cards and the life paths.

The Tree of Life Spread is used by many progressive members within Judaism who practice psychic beliefs and spiritual rituals in alignment with the law of attraction. They may also use astrology with their beliefs to help guide them. The tarot spread is a guide of the connection between our physical realm and the spiritual realm and the messages we need to receive or paths we need to fulfill during our time in this earthly existence.

The cards are laid out in a specific order that takes the shape of a tree. The first card is laid out on top and in the middle. The second card is to the right, and the third card is to the left of it. The fourth card is underneath the second card, and the fifth card is underneath the third. The sixth card is in the middle, underneath the first card. The seventh card is underneath the fifth card, while the eighth card is underneath the fifth card. The ninth card is underneath the sixth card, and underneath that, as the conclusion is the tenth and final card.

People using this tarot card spread will either begin the reading in order or reverse, depending on the intention and the person they are reading the tarot cards for. If you start at the top with the first card, the reading will begin with guidance from the spiritual realm and end with grounding in reality. If reading in reverse, this tarot spread takes you from everyday life and into enlightenment. Both are acceptable ways to read the spread with the same information presented to you from a different perspective.

First Card in the tarot spread is known as the Crown (or Kether). The Crown is your purpose in life or the problem you are currently facing. It also represents the spiritual world and your presence in it.

Second Card in the tarot spread is known as Wisdom (or Chokhmah). This is where your inspiration comes from and your drive for change. It is also symbolic of personal and social responsibility to self and others.

Third Card in the tarot spread is known as Understanding (or Binah). These are the steps you must take to manifest in life. It may also show you what is blocking you from taking these steps.

Fourth Card in the tarot spread is known as Mercy (or Chesed). It is the structure and laws that guide you in this life. It is how you love and how you express kindness. It can also show you how you experience worry and anxiety, especially about finances.

Fifth Card in the tarot spread is known as Strength (or Geburah). This position represents your obstacles and challenges and how you might overcome them. It can be in the past, present, or future, or ongoing.

Sixth Card in the tarot spread is known as Beauty (or Tiphereth). This position is significant as it is the mediator position between Heaven and Earth. It tells of your achievements and successes and is greatly determined by the cards surrounding it on how it is interpreted. It can also represent all of your relationship statuses.

Seventh Card in the tarot spread is known as Victory (or Netzach). The card in this position offers insights into your material possessions and what you can gain in your life. It can also represent attachments such as love and emotional needs and desires.

Eight Card in the tarot spread is known as Splendor (or Hod). This position pertains to worldly matters and the due diligence needed to stay on your life path. It is significant of the environment necessary to help you prepare or proceed.

Ninth Card in the tarot spread is known as the Foundation (or Yesod). Here lies the ego in the physical world and the root of the action or source of the problem. It can be representative of our mind and unconscious thoughts driving our patterns.

Tenth Card in the tarot spread is known as the Kingdom (or Malkuth). This position is the root of home and family. It is our everyday life and how we live and the conclusion to our being.
